He is the author ofSteve Jobs (2011), Einstein: His Life and Universe (2007), Benjamin Franklin: An American Life (2003), and Kissinger: A Biography (1992), and coauthor of The Wise Men: Six Friends and the World They Made (1986).
Isaacson was born on May 20, 1952, in New Orleans. He is a graduate of Harvard College and of Pembroke College of Oxford University, where he was a Rhodes Scholar. He began his career at The Sunday Times of London and then the New Orleans Times-Picayune/States-Item. He joined TIME in 1978 and served as a political correspondent, national editor, and editor of new media before becoming the magazine’s 14th editor in 1996. He became chairman and CEO of CNN in 2001, and then president and CEO of the Aspen Institute in 2003.
He is the chairman of the board of Teach for America, which recruits recent college graduates to teach in underserved communities. He was appointed by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the Senate to serve as the chairman of the Broadcasting Board of Governors, which oversees Voice of America, Radio Free Europe, and other international broadcasts of the United States, a position he held until 2012. He is vice-chair of Partners for a New Beginning, a public-private group tasked with forging ties between the United States and the Muslim world. He is on the board of United Airlines, Tulane University, and the Overseers of Harvard University. From 2005-2007, after Hurricane Katrina, he was the vice-chair of the Louisiana Recovery Authority.
He lives with his wife and daughter in Washington, DC.

Jose Rene “J.R.” Martinez grew up in Louisiana, Arkansas and Dalton, GA, the place he calls his hometown. After his high school graduation, J.R. joined the Army, and in March of 2003, Infantryman J.R. Martinez was deployed to Iraq. Less than a month into his deployment, he was driving a Humvee in Karbala, when his left front tire hit a landmine. J.R. suffered smoke inhalation and severe burns to more than 40 percent of his body. Martinez claims that while he was fighting for his life and awaiting medical help in Iraq, his sister Anabel, who passed away when J.R. was a child, appeared to him, giving him the strength to stay alive.
J.R. was evacuated to Germany and was eventually sent to Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC) in San Antonio, Texas. J.R. spent 34 months in recovery at BAMC and underwent 33 surgeries, including skin grafts and cosmetic surgery.
During his recovery, a nurse asked him to speak to a burn patient who had just seen his body for the first time and had become withdrawn. After a 45-minute visit, the patient opened the curtain letting light in his room and his heart. J.R. understood the impact he had on this patient and decided to use his experience to help others.
Since then, J.R. has become a highly sought-after motivational speaker, traveling the country to spread his message of resilience and optimism. He has shared the stage with the likes of global self-help guru Tony Robbins and Evangelist Dave Roever.
In October 2008, J.R. stepped into another role, when he was cast as combat veteran Brot Monroe on ABC’ s Emmy® Award-winning daytime drama All My Children. In 2011, J.R. won America’s heart when he was featured on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars, took home first place and the show’s coveted mirror ball trophy. His book Full of Heart: My Story of Survival, Strength, and Spirit will be published by Hyperion, November 2012

In 1966, she returned to Broadway in triumph, winning her first Tony Award for Mame. She received others as the Madwoman of Chaillot in Dear World (1968), as Mama Rose in the 1974 revival of Gypsy and as Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd (1979). From 1984-1996 she starred as Jessica Fletcher, mystery-writing amateur sleuth, on "Murder, She Wrote," the longest-running detective drama series in the history of television, a role that won her four Golden Globe Awards. Named a Commander of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth in 1994, she received the Kennedy Center Honors in 2000.

McCurry serves on numerous boards or advisory councils including Share Our Strength, the Junior Statesmen Foundation, the Children’s Scholarship Fund, the Wesley Theological Seminary, and the United Methodist Commission on Communications. He is co-chairman of the Commission on Presidential Debates.
McCurry received his Bachelor of Arts from Princeton University in 1976 and a Master of Arts from Georgetown University in 1985. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in theology at Wesley Theological Seminary.
