Seeking a talented web developer interested in working in a fast-paced, dynamic company with explosive growth potential. Senior Software Engineer will create and maintain the Ruby on Rails-based application, and also may be asked to help out with other projects.

The ideal candidate will have experience developing rich web applications (AJAX, XHTML, JavaScript, XML, CSS, etc). We are looking for candidates with strong user-interface instincts. The successful candidate will have a passion for delivering high quality software and possess a high degree of creativity and enthusiasm, capable of owning large features. Excellent team work and communication skills are necessary. Sample code or links to your work would be most helpful.

Because the organization is small, this is a highly technical and hands-on position that requires significant understanding of various modern technologies and the ability to perform actual technical work as well as leading a team.

    KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Commercial website application design and development (min 3 years)
  • Working to ensure projects are completed on time/budget
  • Participating in client meetings when appropriate and be able to discuss technical issues in a clear and positive way to non-technical audiences.
  • Keeping fully abreast of latest thinking in all areas of web development
    QUALIFICATIONS
  • Outstanding Ruby on Rails skills
  • PHP (nice to have)
  • iOS (nice to have)
  • Android (nice to have)
  • HTML, Javascript, and CSS experience
  • Thorough knowledge of website accessibility guidelines and data protection practices
  • Cross-browser compatibility
  • Rails-brand Ajax (assuming comfort with Prototype/Scriptaculous and jQuery)
  • Good understanding of HTTP (requests and headers, statuses, HTTPS, etc)
  • Experience with web/app/db server setups (Apache/Passenger a bonus)
  • Development concepts: REST, MVC, SCM (git)
  • Agile or Scrum development methodology experience
  • Collaborative software products development
  • Deep Unix/Linux skills
  • Basic Java skills

Technical Project Manager

Technical Project Manager will be planning, running, tracking, closing, and evaluating technical projects. He or she will be working closely with Product Management, Development, Quality Assurance and Technical Operations teams.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  • Responsible for scheduling, performance tracking and evaluation of technical projects & programs using SCRUM
  • Ensures adherence to master plans and schedules; develops solutions for project and program problems, and directs work of team members assigned to project and program from various departments
  • Ensures projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Manages projects to ensure that implementation and prescribed activities are carried out in accordance with specified objectives
  • Tracks internal and external dependencies and ensures they are met
  • Plans and develops methods and procedures for implementing projects, directs and coordinates project activities, and exercises control over personnel responsible for specific functions or phases of program
  • Reviews reports and records of activities to ensure progress is being accomplished toward specified project and program objectives
  • Modifies or changes methodology as required to redirect activities and attain objectives
  • Prepares project reports for superiors
  • Controls expenditures in accordance with budget allocations
  • Participates in planning and supervision of technology deployments, and other production activities as required
    OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Assists product management in the creation of Business Requirements and Project Scope submissions to Executive team
  • Creation and presentation of Project Roadmap Plan, Project Queue, Project Budgets and Change Request submissions to Executive team
  • Escalation of critical issues to appropriate senior management
    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • Deep understanding of SCRUM or other agile project methodologies
  • Understanding of the technologies involved
  • Solid planning and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • 5 years project management experience
  • 10 years industry experience (software, technology)
  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science or equivalent
  • PMP certification is a plus
  • Digital media industry experience is a plus
  • Hands-on software development or technical operations experience desired
